Biden will sign climate, healthcare bills

President Biden will sign Democrats' major climate change. 

Health care package on Tuesday, completing his pared-down domestic agenda less than three months before midterm elections. 

The bill would invest $375 billion over a decade to tackle climate change & cap Medicare prescription drug costs at $2,000 yearly. 

Extending coronavirus pandemic subsidies would assist 13 million Americans pay for health insurance. 

The plan is paid for by new taxes on large firms & increased IRS enforcement of rich individuals & entities. 

Friday's vote was 220-207 along party lines. Vice President Kamala Harris broke a 50-50 Senate tie to pass it. 

Biden will sign the bill in the State Dining Room of the White House after returning from a six-day oceanfront vacation in South Carolina. 

When lawmakers return to Washington on Sept. 6, he promises a larger "celebration" for the bill. 

Biden and Congress have passed legislation on veterans' benefits, the semiconductor industry, & firearms checks for young buyers in three months. 

The president & parliamentarians also replied to Russia's invasion of Ukraine & endorsed Sweden & Finland's NATO membership.
