Ever crave pickles but can't open your fave jar of dills? Or maybe you can't open a jar of marinara sauce. 

When brute force fails, try these jar-opening tips. Improve your grip on the jar lid. 

Wet or shiny lids can cause a loose grip. Dry dish towels, plastic wrap, or silicone can increase grip (often found in kitchens as a heat-resistant mat or shelf liner). 

Place the grip-assisting object over the jar lid & twist to open. Rubber gloves or a thick rubber band might improve your grip. 

This method opens beer bottles without a bottle opener. Turn a wooden spoon or butter knife handle-side-up. 

Tap the jar's lid. This disrupts the seal. Tap the jar & try again. You may need to tap the lid many times before it moves. 

Use a butter knife, bottle opener, or flat-head screwdriver to pry. Without a corkscrew, you can alternatively use a screwdriver.
