SMART goals proving elusive? Instead, try this

Rarely has someone not been told to use SMART goals to make life changes. Specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, & time-bound goals are needed. 

Supposedly. SMART goals are only part of the solution to getting fit, losing weight, or organising our finances. 

Swiss researchers have developed a new, more effective method for setting goals. It's a goal pyramid. 

Because not all goals are equal & each type helps you achieve your goals. 

The pyramid has three types of goals: a super-goal at the top, concrete intermediate goals, and foundation goals at the bottom. 

What do you want? Your priorities? This is a time to reflect on who you want to be. You may find that what you thought was a super-goal is actually an intermediate one. 

If you want to lose weight, ask yourself why. For looks? Confidence? A good super-goal is about who you want to be, say the researchers.
